Homemade Gift Tags Are My Favorite!
I have always been of the opinion that books make the very best gifts.
I can't think of anything dreamier than to open a holiday gift and find a glossy book cover and crisp white pages beneath the festive wrapping paper. I love that first "crack" of the spine and the distinct new smell of a book. Books make me happy!
For Christmas this year, I decided to give all the wonderful friends that live on my street a new book. I found a most excellent deal on Christmas-themed children's books in my beloved Scholastic flyer. Giddy over the thought of such a fun and inexpensive gift idea, I placed my order before Thanksgiving!
My personal "elf," Lilly, has been helping me wrap all our "neighbor gifts." The plaid wrapping paper from Target has dressed the books up to perfection, while the candy cane striped baker's twine has added to the overall charm. Still, it seemed as though they were missing something...
"I think our gifts are missing something," I said to Lilly.
"Hmm," she thought. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "Gift tags?"
That's it! I went to our computer, opened PicMonkey, and got to work creating gift tags. (What do you get when you add a chalk-like font to a black tag? Perfection!) I printed my tags four-to-a-sheet on Avery's white shipping labels. They are a full sheet--8 1/2 x 11 size and number 8165. Once they were printed, Lilly and I cut them out, peeled the backing off, and slapped them on each book. Easy peasy!
The finished result is so darling it makes me feel like singing. (And isn't that the best way to spread Christmas cheer? Singing loud for all to hear?!) My merry printer made "gift prepping" a quick and simple process. (Leaving more time for watching Elf!)
