"BRAVE" Giveaway...HOORAY!

Are you brave?

Honestly, I've never considered myself a brave person.  Case in point:  I'm deathly afraid of spiders.  (Just typing the word "spiders" is giving me the heebie jeebies!)  I still run up the stairs when I leave a dark basement.  (What is with that?!  It's as if I'm afraid some monstrous thing is going to snatch my ankle at the last minute and drag me back down.)  I'm terrified of the dark.  (McHubby can vouch for that one.  It's why I am always leaving the lights on...which, he hates!)

Despite my fears, I have to recognize the moments of bravery in my life.  I was brave when I encountered a cockroach the size of my head, in China.  I was brave when I moved to a new city--not knowing anyone, or how to get around without getting lost.  I was brave when I gave birth to my babies.  And, I suppose I have to be a little brave everyday, as I face the challenges of motherhood.

In Disney Pixar's beautiful film, Brave, the heroine, Merida, exhibits bravery as she stands up for what she believes in, faces the challenges of complicated relationships, and fights to help and protect her mother.  What's not to love about her strong character?  (I doubt she would run from dark basements!)

The characters are endearing, the cinematography is lovely, and the Scottish lilts are charming.  The Highland folklore makes for a unique and interesting viewing experience.  (And then there's Merida's wild, fiery red hair, which is pretty awesome!)

  1. Could I love you more?! I am your newest stalker. ;) By the way, I love you on Facebook and GF and Twitter. :) Oh, and in real life too.

    Mmmmmwwwwaaaaahhh!

I was brave when I told my hubby we had to be done having children. Hardest decision of my life. I still don't like it. But I had to for my health and for my two sweet girls I already have. Making hard choices that you hate is brave!

  2. I've done steps one and two! I think a time I was brave was when we moved to a different state...clear away from our families. It was so hard and first, and still is sometimes! I'm so glad the holidays are here so we can see them all soon!

  3. I follow you on facebook, I stalk you from across the street and I follow you on here.:)
I think the time that I was the bravest was when I had a surgery that paralyzed my face for about 6 months. The one thing I took for granted up until that time was my ability to simply smile. I couldn't smile anymore. Well I could, a half crooked, silly looking smile. I never realized how much I would miss being able to smile. Not knowing if I would ever be able to smile again, or blink, or taste was scary but I had to be brave because I had two little girls to take care of. They noticed something was different about me but they stood up for me when their friends laughed at my silly face, they loved and hugged me when I was feeling insecure. That alone gave me courage. Thankfully my smile came back and to this day I never smile without being thankful that I can.

  4. I have completed steps one and two! Thanks for the awesome giveaway! I love this movie and I have recently stumbled upon your blog and really enjoy it.

I was really brave when I had my baby. She was having heart problems during labor so they rushed me into surgery and did an emergency c-section. It was super scary!!

    Anyway, I hope I win!

    Thanks

  8. I liked and followed. I'm a military wife and I had my first daughter while my husband was deployed. It wasn't as if I had a choice about the matter, but it happened, and I guess of all the things I've done that took the most courage.

  9. I did both step and I am following you on twitter (it is really fun, you will the hang of it quickly).

A time in my life that I was brave was....Feb 10th 2006. My teenage daughter was in an auto accident. She was placed on life support and test were run for brain activity. Test were devastating! We were faced with having to pull her off of life support. I had to be brave that day for my other 3 children and for my daughter. I never want to have to be that Brave again! Thankfully God was by our sides the whole time helping us to be brave, because we certainly couldn't have done it on our own.

  14. Oh my gosh! Erik and I had wanted to go see this in the theater but it never quite happened. AND. I'll have you know, learning to navigate a new city IS scary and so is the dark! And giving birth? I've never done that one but I'd be darn scared!
So, I'm now following you on fb and already on here.

My brave moment? Going to my sisters ward last month to watch her kids while she and her husband gave the talks. The children behaved and no one stoned me. It was amazing!

  15. I have followed you for a while now. But I just did the other 2 steps. I would love to win this movie for our family. We still have 3 young girls at home who I know would love this movie. I have a fear of crowded places therefor I won't go to the movies so they miss out on that. Great giveaway. Good luck to everyone! Hugs, Bobbi Jo-AZ

  16. I did both steps one and two-Following on FB and GFC. This movie is one of my FAVORITES!
I think the time I tried hard to be the bravest was when I went rappelling this summer. I have the biggest fear of heights. See, I fell off a bunk bed when I was a child and since then I haven't liked going up high things. Well, I decided that I could overcome my fear and go over the mountainside. It took me forever to get down to the bottom, but I did it!

  18. I like and follow you! (and love you!) A time that I was brave was when my baby was in the NICU. It was a really hard time to go through and I had to be brave in many instances. I look back at that time and I am thankful that I was able to be as brave as I was.
